I have always known that I wanted to do big things and to find a career that I had a positive affect on people’s lives. As a wedding photographer, I found what I’ve always wanted. To be a part of someone’s life story and to document one of the most important days of someone’s life. We have been fortunate enough in our career, to meet some really amazing people and families. The kind of families who instantly make you feel like of their own. Who despite only knowing them for a day, you stay connected with. The Yingst family is no different. 5 years ago we photographed Suzanne and Paul’s wedding. Their giggles and love for one another on their wedding day is still fresh in my mind. Then 3 years later, we photographed Suzanne’s sisters wedding. Michelle and Jeff were so easy going and made us feel like we’d been friends for years. Then, we had the honor of being asked to photograph their brother Patrick’s wedding in Fort Worth,Tx. When his fiancé Lauren contacted us and asked if we would consider flying to Fort Worth to photograph her and Patrick’s wedding, it was a no brainer. YES!! (And of course a weekend getaway to explore and new city with my bestie was an added bonus too!) Then once we heard more details about their gorgeous wedding, we were pumped and counting down the months till the wedding. Lauren’s dad is a 4th generation railroad worker, so we just loved how she chose a wedding venue that was meaningful and sentimental. The Ashton Depot is located in Downtown Fort Worth and was an old train station that was designed by the same architect who built Union Station in New York City. The architectural details were to die for. It was stunning, timeless, and elegant. Lauren and Patrick were our ideal wedding couple. They gave us full creative freedom to do whatever we do best. No long list of “shots” they wanted, or tons of Pinterest ideas emailed to us. They didn’t ask us to help recreate someone else’s beautiful memories..let let US capture THEIR beautiful memories, that were one of a kind to them and their wedding. While of course we always want to make sure our clients are on board with our ideas, it was awesome to hear Lauren say all day long “I trust y’all”
Lauren and Patrick both got ready at the Sheraton Downtown Fort Worth. It was a great location, directly across the street from the beautiful water gardens, and the Ashton Depot was right behind the hotel. Since we were also staying at the Sheraton, it was great popping in on the girls thought the day, snapping some pictures here and there, even though we weren’t “on the clock yet” It was fun getting to know Lauren and her closest girls in a laid back atmosphere, and everyone made us feel like one of the girls. Once we actually started in the afternoon, we were able to get pictures of both Lauren and Patrick getting ready before heading to the Ashton Depot for their “first look” Have we ever mentioned how much we LOVE first looks?!? They’re great! When couples choose to do a first look, we are able to get all of their formal pictures done before the ceremony, so that once the ceremony is over, there is nothing left to do but party and have a great time! We chose the intimate setting of the Ashton courtyard and after a sweet and intimate first look with just us and Lauren and Patrick, we got strait to doing pictures of our lovely couple. Since we had allowed plenty ofttimes, we were able to go to several different locations for pictures of Patrick and Lauren and they were such troopers. Their wedding day was HOT! Not to mention we got some rain drops during some of our pictures. But on top of that, Heather and I had found some really neat spots in the Water Gardens area that we thought would be great for pictures..but not the easiest to get to..especially in a wedding dress and tux! I nicknames Heather “Drill Sergeant Heather” after that day! She had Lauren, Patrick and I climbing to the top of “the mountain” (which is a really tall mountain thing made up of lots of large cement steps) to get a couple pictures..even through we all felt like we had just participated in Heather’s Bootcamp…the end result was SO worth it! And I was amazed at how willing Lauren and Patrick were to TOTALLY trust us and did whatever we thought would make for a great pic. LOVE them! So we quickly cooled off before their beautiful courtyard ceremony right outside the Ashton Depot. It was beautiful and was filled with love as family and friends watched Lauren and Patrick become one. Then it was time to party! The inside of the depot is gorgeous, the food was delicious, the guests were all about dancing and having a great time (and making sure we were having a great time too!) and then of course our bride and groom was a true dream to spend the evening with. The entire day was about as perfect as you can possibly get and as photographers, this was such an amazing experience to be apart of.
There was lots of excitement, anticipation and even some nervousness about flying from New Orleans to Fort Worth to photograph our FIRST destination wedding, but it was everything and more than what we dreamed it’d be! Lauren and Patrick will always hold a very special place in our hearts and this will forever be one of our most favorite weddings we’ve photographed. Love y’all!
